FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff's offseason moves failed to dazzle the folks over at Bleacher Report.
In a ranking of how the league's general managersfared this offense, Dimitroff was 28th out of the 32 NFL teams.
The Falcons, who had the league's worst ranked defense, didn’t go after any A-level talent while still retaining $14 million in cap space is the main charge against Dimitroff. Also, the time spent shopping at the bargain basement free agency rack hurt in the rankings.
The Falcons still have more than $14 million in cap space, and it was curious to not see the team more aggressive in free agency. The loss of longtime receiver Harry Douglas will likely have some impact, but the Falcons did not really lose any free agents that they couldn't afford to lose.
All of the GMs in the NFC South were ranked low. Tampa Bay's Jason Licht was ranked 32nd, Carolina's Dave Gettleman was ranked 31st and New Orleans' Mickey Loomis was ranked 27th.
The top three general manager's were Green Bay's Ted Thompson, Buffalo's Doug Whaley and New York Jets' Mike Maccagnan.
