Georgia record-setting quarterback Aaron Murray, who didn't wear shoulder pads nor a helmet, move fluidly through his Pro Day work out just five months after knee surgery on Wednesday.
He completed 47 of 54 passes. He had three drops, two catches out of bounds, a wide receiver slipped on another play and he had one inaccurate attempt on a windy day. Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel came dressed to play for his Pro Day.
Murray just laughed when asked where was his helmet and shoulder pads.
“I think today showed these teams that they don’t have to worry about the knee,” Murray said. “They don’t have to worry about drafting someone who’s not going to be able to participate in OTAs, preseason and the season. I’m ready to go and I’m ready to play.”
Murray used the same script that Sam Bradford used when was coming out of the NFL draft in 2010.
Quarterback coach Terry Shea led the session.
“It was a very ambitious script because we moved him around so much,” Shea said. “That was paramount because we wanted to demonstrate his health and that he was 100 percent healthy. I believe he answered those questions. The NFL teams wanted to see what kind of stroke that he has. He has very clean mechanics. I think he demonstrated that and he drove the ball when he needed to drive it.”
We’ll have more up on Murray’s Pro Day on MyAJC.com later today.
