Theater notes: Singer Anthony David's new stage; Onstage Atlanta's '15-'16 season
New stage for singer Anthony David
One of the stars of the Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company production of "Chasin' dem Blues: The Untold Story of Paramount Records," opening July 10 at Southwest Arts Center, looks familiar onstage, just not the stage of a theater.
Atlanta-based R&B singer-songwriter Anthony David, in his first professional theater performance, will play the role of bluesman Blue.
Written and directed by Kevin Ramsey, "Chasin' dem Blues" is a musical about the history of Paramount Records in Grafton, Wisc., in the 1910s. The multimedia production conveys how this small Midwest town changed American music, ushering in the sound of the early 20th century.
Joining David, known as a songwriter, producer and duet partner of India Arie whose fourth studio album is “Love Out Loud,” are Jeremy Cohen, Brad Raymond, Maiesha McQueen and Che Marshall.

Onstage Atlanta announces 2015-16 season
Onstage Atlanta, the Decatur ensemble, has announced its 2015-16 schedule:
- Oct. 23-Nov. 14: "A Murder is Announced," the Agatha Christie's Miss Marple mystery, adapted by Leslie Darbon.
- Nov. 27-Dec. 20: "The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical," Atlanta premiere (music and lyrics by David Nehls; book by Betsy Kelso).
- Dec. 3-13: "Merry Little Holiday Shorts 2015," eight one-acts by local and national playwrights.
- Feb. 5-20, 2016: "Five Course Love," a musical from Greg Coffin in which three actors play 15 characters in search of true love in five restaurants.
- March 4-26, 2016: "Prelude to a Kiss," the Craig Lucas romantic comedy.
- June 3-25, 2016: "Enchanted April," Matthew Barber's comedy about the renewing spell of Italy on four women.
- July 8-Aug. 13, 2016: "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," comic musical from David Yazbek (music and lyrics) and Jeffrey Lane (book) about con-men scheming to bilk rich women on the French Riviera.

Fabrefaction finds new location for acting classes
Fabrefaction Theatre Conservatory, which recently gave up its Westside home of five years at 999 Brady Ave. as part of a reorganization, has relocated nearby.
It has struck an accord with Actor’s Express to use its King Plow Arts Center space at 887 W. Marietta St. for Fabrefaction’s summer programs and 2015-2016 conservatory classes. Starting July 17, 24 and 31, the troupe is offering week-long intensives in performance techniques for students from elementary school through college.
