Delta Air Lines employees inducted into the company's "chairman's club" this month saw a surprise guest speaker at their awards gala: Tim Tebow.

The former Florida and NFL quarterback turned professional baseball player is also an elite-level "diamond medallion" frequent flier on Delta.

The company says Tebow told employees at the Thursday night event at the airline's museum: "One thing I can say about Delta people that I've been around is that they love caring about the people."

Delta said Tebow spoke at the gala "as a valued customer and also as a person with a heart for service, which is at the core of Chairman's Club."
