Southwest Airlines this weekend launches flights from Atlanta to Oakland, marking a shift in its longest route from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

The daily flights to Oakland launch Sunday, Nov. 1 and will take the place of Southwest's Atlanta-San Francisco flights discontinuing Saturday.

Dallas-based Southwest has been growing its presence in Oakland, which is in the San Francisco Bay area and is Southwest's largest operational base in California. Oakland International Airport said Atlanta and Dallas have been its two top under-served markets and the new flights will help meet travel demand.
