Lines for Transportation Security Administration checkpoints have been particularly long for more than a week amid the closure of the Terminal South checkpoint for a redesign of two security lanes aimed at speeding screening. The checkpoint is expected to reopen May 24.

In the domestic terminal, the Main checkpoint and Terminal North checkpoint are now handling the huge volumes of passengers that come to the airport. Monday mornings are often the busiest time of the week.

"This is exceedingly long," said Brett Cooper, a traveler who lives in Marietta and was waiting in the line as it weaved around the baggage claim carousels. "I purposely got here even earlier because of the work they're doing on the security lines... I don't know why they're doing testing at such a busy airport."

With frustrated passengers stuck in long lines, the airport has been featuring live entertainers. Some passengers also were offered chewy granola bars, Rice Krispies treats, animal crackers and bottled water from airport workers.
