Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is "maintaining a hyper-vigilance" and increasing the presence of law enforcement in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Istanbul.
Roosevelt Council, interim general manager of the world's busiest airport said the increased presence of Atlanta police officers at Hartsfield-Jackson is particularly focused on the airport roadways, in front of the terminals.
"We're going to have more presence on the curbside," Council said Wednesday, adding that travelers would likely see more Atlanta police officers and canine units. He said the airport usually increases its police presence for holiday travel periods, and will likely have a greater increase of police presence in response to the Istanbul attacks on Tuesday.

Hartsfield-Jackson spokesman Reese McCranie also said the airport is "monitoring the situation closely in Istanbul, and we are in coordination with federal, state and local law enforcement."
"At this point, there is no reason to believe that Hartsfield-Jackson is in any imminent threat," according to McCranie.
