Delta Air Lines has taken delivery of its first Airbus extra wide-body A350-900, a 306-seat jet that it will use for flights to Asia.

Atlanta-based Delta took delivery of the plane Thursday, and will launch service with it Oct. 30 from Detroit to Tokyo.

The new plane will debut business class suites and premium economy seats on Delta. It will also be the first long-haul aircraft with 2Ku internet connectivity, according to the airline.

The A350s in Delta's fleet will replace Boeing 747s, which Delta is retiring from its fleet late this year.
