Delta Air Lines is adding flights from the Carolinas to help residents evacuating in advance of Hurricane Florence.

Atlanta-based Delta said the extra flights and larger planes amount to more than 1,000 extra seats.

The airline is still evaluating possible flight cancellations and changes, and is waiving certain change fees for passengers with flights booked to, from or through affected cities who want to change their travel plans.

Delta is also waiving checked baggage fees and pet-in-cabin fees in selected cities in the path of the hurricane, and has capped certain fares for people leaving the area.
