Couple gets engaged on Delta flight

A Delta Air Lines plane at 30,000 feet became the scene for a carefully-orchestrated engagement this week.

Flights were already part of the couple's long-distance relationship stretched between Atlanta and Pennsylvania -- Deepum Patel works in Atlanta while girlfriend Neha Chakravarti has been in dental school in Pennsylvania.

During a Wednesday flight from Atlanta to Boston for a layover before continuing on to Reykjavik, Patel got done on one knee in the aisle of the plane.

Delta flight attendants helped with planning -- which involved a staged call for medical assistance from Chakravarti -- and Patel had prepared cards handed out to customers asking them to take pictures and video of the proposal.

When the plane landed in Boston, Delta employees had balloons, gift bags and flowers for the newly-engaged couple.
