The first introduction of Atlanta's new mayor to people outside metro Atlanta might come when they are passing through the concourses of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

A welcome message from Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms began playing in the airport soon after she took office early this year.

The message is similar to one from her predecessor Kasim Reed while he was mayor. Bottoms' message to travelers says: "Whether Atlanta is your home or you are visiting for business or leisure, we are glad you're here," and adds: "We hope you have an opportunity to explore all our great city has to offer."
