After handling a record 101.5 million passengers last year, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport said its passenger counts continue to grow at a clip of nearly 4.5 percent so far this year.
The Atlanta airport in 2015 became the first in the world to handle more than 101 million passengers in a single year.
The trend is continuing. In the first half of this year, Hartsfield-Jackson handled nearly 51.3 million passengers.

It was the world’s busiest airport measured in passengers and flights last year, and continues to grow by both measures. A total of 447,677 flights took off or landed at Hartsfield-Jackson in the first half of this year, up 3.5 percent from the same period of 2015.
Passenger counts on Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines and its partner carriers, which make up more than 80 percent of the market at Hartsfield-Jackson, grew nearly 2.4 percent.
Other airlines also carried more passengers to or from Atlanta, including Southwest, United, Spirit, Frontier and Alaska Airlines.
And Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines launched flights to Hartsfield-Jackson this year.
