Cuban bakery in Decatur makes ‘100 Best Places to Dine in America’ list

Are you tired of the same old wings and pizza in Georgia? It’s time to spice things up with some Cuban flair! The highly anticipated 2023 Yelp “100 Best Places To Dine In America” list has finally been released, and drumroll, please... Georgia has a winner! Decatur’s Buena Gente Cuban Bakery is the delicious restaurant that made the cut.

Buena Gente, which was recently named a James Beard Award semifinalist, serves up irresistible pastelitos (pastries), empanadas, Cubano coffee, tropical milkshakes and Cuban sandwiches. This eatery has been making waves since it opened its doors in 2016, and Yelp reviewers can’t get enough!

“This was my first time coming to Buena Gente for breakfast and it was worth it! They finally had the papa rellena in stock (I believe they sell out by 11 AM) and I completely understand why. Everything was fresh baked and delicious,” a Yelp user commented. Another satisfied customer even proclaimed that the empanadas were the best they’d ever had.

To get its results for the “Top 100″ list, Yelp’s data analysts worked their magic, sifting through the submissions from the community to determine the top restaurants based on ratings, number of reviews, and volume of requests. Yelp then divided the submissions equally and got the input of their Community Managers to finalize the rankings.

“From food trucks and sandwich shops to fine dining establishments, the Top 100 list reflects the diverse tastes and uniqueness of our community of users,” Tara Lewis, Yelp’s trend expert said, according to Forbes. “It is powered by the people, not a small group of restaurant critics, and we look forward to consumers continuing to share their dining experiences in their reviews.”
