It’s time to grab your popcorn and your friends for RoadShow Africa’s inaugural Africa Film Showcase on Thursday, Oct. 20.

The one-night-only event and awards ceremony will feature film industry professionals, government organizations, foreign dignitaries and business owners, all sharing their love for international collaboration and good films. The showcase will have something for everyone—including panel discussions, sneak peaks of African films and a reception serving African-inspired drinks and hors d’oeuvres, attended by African filmmakers, government leaders, students and international dignitaries.

Two panels are included with all tickets. First, the Independent Filmmaking Panel featuring Markice Moore AKA “Kesan” and Dwayne Boyd, and second, the Distribution Panel featuring representatives from Tubi, Hulu and Netflix. The showcase will display works by Georgia students, independent filmmakers and African filmmakers. Following that, awards will be announced for the films that best represent innovation and filmmaking excellence.

RoadShow Africa noticed that despite this growth, there were still a lot of African filmmakers who weren’t being offered the same financial compensation from distributors as their western peers. To try and combat that, they began representing African talent in the American market to make sure filmmakers receive fair compensation for their work, as well as having access to advanced education programs with international collaborators.

“Attendees will not be disappointed as we have two star-studded panels and powerful presentations - not to mention the opportunity to network with filmmakers, distributors and producers that are slated to attend,” said CEO of RoadShow Africa, Jim Munson in a press release.

RoadShow Africa’s inaugural Africa Film Showcase will be held on Oct. 20, at the Auburn Avenue Research Library. Whether you’re a filmmaker yourself or just interested in the international industry, you can grab your tickets and learn more details with the information below:
