The definition of “the show must go on” is in full force.

The former Music Midtown headliners, My Chemical Romance, announced they’ll still be performing in Atlanta despite last week’s festival cancellation. The alternative rock band posted the announcement, via a flyer on their Instagram page.

It looks like the band is still trying to give fans a show to look forward to regardless of the circumstances. You may recall, just last week, we reported on the Music Midtown cancellation. It was widely reported that the Music Midtown cancellation was in response to “recent changes to Georgia gun laws that prevent the festival from banning guns onto the publicly owned festival grounds.” In the past, the festival has banned attendees from bringing guns into the event, which allegedly played a part in this decision.

Music Midtown isn’t the only music festival that seems to be affected by the recent changes to Georgia gun laws. Just a few days ago, the 404 Festival announced they’ll be postponing their festivities. “In light of recent events, we have made the conscious decision to pause this year’s 404 Festival to explore options that will allow our fans to celebrate the community inclusion, growth, and appreciation of the City of Atlanta,” officials said in their statement.

The alternative rock band is coming to Ameris Bank Amphitheatre on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. If that date sounds familiar, it’s the same weekend they were scheduled to headline Music Midtown. The band will be joined by special guest, 100 GECS. If you’re a Music Midtown fan, you’re in luck – they’re offering presale tickets, which are on sale now, while general public tickets will go on sale this Friday, Aug. 12 at noon. You can grab your tickets for the show at livenation.com.
