The program, called ATLeaders, will have its debut at on the rooftop at Ponce City Market. The group, targeting young professionals under 40, is part of the chamber’s overall outreach to cultivate young professionals and help them tap into the region’s vast business community.
A news bulletin introducing the program says it is focused on “providing the future leaders of our city with access to the business community, a network of their peers and the ability to create social impact, specifically in the areas of transit and food insecurities.”
The council has the vast workforce shift from Baby Boomers to Gen X and Millennials firmly in mind.
The chamber has taken a number of steps to try to reach younger professionals, including its ChooseATL campaign, a program to recruit millennials to move to Atlanta to start their careers. ChooseATL recently went to South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, to show off Atlanta's quality of life, arts, culture and startup scene.
Wednesday’s event will introduce the council and include organizations that are aligned with ATLeaders’ strategic goals, including the Advance Atlanta transit advocacy group, Cyclehop, Georgia Organics, MARTA, Truly Living Well and WeCycle.
