Gas station giant QuikTrip is ditching the gas pumps for a premium location in Midtown Atlanta.

The company is slated to open later this year a 3,500- square-foot QuikTrip convenience store in one of the retail spaces at the Viewpoint Atlanta condominiums on Peachtree and 6th streets, according to What Now Atlanta.

The store, which is smaller than the chain’s usual footprint, is a play for urban dwellers as more people leave suburban sprawl for Intown living.

Mike Thornburg, manager of public and government affairs, told What Now Atlanta, "We recognize that the world which we live in is changing. More and more people are moving back into the urban core, and there aren't a lot of options for people inside the city as far as convenience stores go."

The store will reportedly be the first of its kind in metro Atlanta.
