No metro Atlanta communities landed among the 100 most expensive U.S. housing markets. But six ended up on the other end of the scale: among the nation’s 100 most affordable.

Riverdale, on metro Atlanta’s south side, is the second least expensive U.S. market, as measured by the average listing price of four-bedroom, two-bath homes, according to a new report by Coldwell Banker Real Estate. The list price for those homes in Riverdale averaged $79,223, the firm found.

That’s about $5,000 more than the cheapest market in the nation: Cleveland, Ohio.

The most expensive U.S. market? Newport Beach in California, where the average price for a four-bedroom, two-bath is $2,291,764. Again, that’s the average there. Nine other California communities were in the top 10.

In addition to Riverdale, other metro Atlanta communities among the nation’s 100 least expensive are Lithonia (ranked 10th, with an average price of $95,750), Griffin (18th, $103,827), Jonesboro (45th, $119,852), Ellenwood (54th, $122,526 ) and Stone Mountain (59th, $123,286).

Other Georgia communities on the list include Fitzgerald (15th), Augusta (16th), Hephzibah (25th), Douglas (57th) and Americus (77th).

Coldwell Banker’s report, based on a review of more than 2,700 markets, found the U.S. average listing price of a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home is $302,632.
