Atlanta developer Ben Carter’s evolution of Savannah’s famed Broughton Street is bringing in a new wave of retailers.
The Broughton Street Collection, as the project is known, announced Tuesday commitments from nationally known Club Monaco, Michael Kors, Kendra Scott, Tommy Bahama, Victoria’s Secret and a coffeehouse known as Blends, a Coffee Boutique.
The shops are all slated to open next year. The stores join names such as H&M, J. Crew, Lilly Pulitzer’s Palm Avenue, L’Occitane and lululemon.
The Broughton Street Collection is part of Carter's comeback effort on Georgia's coast. Carter Enterprises obtained control of much of the downtown Savannah street with plans to revitalize historic store fronts and open a stretch of new shops, restaurants, offices and apartments. He also developed a new outlet mall in Pooler.
“We are thrilled to announce these exclusive brands have selected Broughton Street as their new home,” Ben Carter Enterprises CEO Quito Anderson said in a news release. “This shopping district continues to show strong signs of resurgence as it becomes populated with a carefully curated mix of retailers that align with Savannah’s plans for growth.”
Savannah has been among the state's brightest economic stories in recent years, buoyed by tourism, the military and the city's bustling port.
