South Carolina lost another wide receiver to injury on Sunday.
Freshman Jerad Washington suffered a broken leg in Sunday's practice and is expected to miss the entire season, according to TheState.com's Josh Kendall. Washington is listed as the third-team "Z" receiver on the team's website.
“Please pray for my son Jerad Washington. He just broke his leg in practice. About to go into surgery,”Jerad’s father Reggie Washington tweeted on Sunday.
Unfortunately, it's not the first big injury that will impact South Carolina's receiving corps this season. The Gamecocks will also be without redshirt freshman Shaq Davidson. Davidson, who is listed as the third-team "X" receiver on the team website, tore a knee ligament in practice on Thursday and is set to have surgery on both knees in the next six weeks, according to TheState.com.
“He’s (Davidson) scheduled to have surgery on his other knee in about six weeks,” coach Steve Spurrier told reporters on Sunday. “It had been bothering him also. He’ll have his second redshirt year this year.”
