Arkansas running back Jonathan Williams is going to miss the entire season after undergoing season-ending foot surgery. But there's even worse news if you're a fan of the Razorbacks.
Williams may never play for Arkansas again.
Williams spoke with the media on Thursday for the first time since having surgery on Aug. 17. He said that he’s likely to move onto the NFL next year if his rehab goes to plan, according to wholehogsports.com’s Thomas Murphy.
The running back needed two screws placed in his foot to speed up the growth of a torn ligament, according to Murphy. It was unfortunate injury for both Williams and the Razorbacks that and broke up one of the fiercest running back tandems in the SEC in Williams and junior Alex Collins.
Williams is a senior but would be able to redshirt this season if he wanted to play another year in college. But it seems that he’s banking on his past success to impress NFL teams, and there’s plenty of it. Williams has been an important part of the Arkansas offense for the past three seasons, and if rehab goes well, he could have the same type of impact in the NFL.
