Ryan Mallett is not a happy man.

Texans coach Bill O’Brien announced on Monday that Brian Hoyer would be Houston’s starting quarterback after a preseason battle with Mallett. The former Arkansas start quarterback had a day to come to terms with the decision, but it still wasn’t sitting well with him on a day later.

Kristie Rieken of the Associated Press caught up with Mallett at Tuesday’s practice.

Mallett said: “Am I disappointed? Yeah. Angry? Little bit. Though I did enough to deserve the job. But it was not seen that way so I’ll do what’s best for the team.”

It’s never easy to lose your position, and Mallet is lucky enough to have millions of viewers watch exactly how it went down. Hard Knocks’ cameramen are good, really good, and it’s highly unlikely that they won’t document everything they can from the surrounding the situation. That means the meeting with head coach Bill O’Brien, the reaction afterward, the announcement and much more.

J.J. Watt and his freakish workouts were already enough reason to tune in, and this will just add to the fire. Hard Knocks airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. Grab your popcorn.
