LSU's Les Miles is learning that the ever-present hot seat shows no mercy, even to the elite coaches.

But the River Boat Gambler, as brash as ever, told reporters after the Tigers last scrimmage on Tuesday night, “I promise you this– I’m triggered not by exterior factors, only what goes on in this building.”

Les Miles never has and never will lack in confidence. There's a reason why CBSSports.com ranked him as the second best coach in the SEC, and it shows year after year.

However, last season’s 8-5 effort and lack of success in bowl games in the recent years (2-4 in the past six games) has started some grumblings on whether or not Miles can get it done again.

Navigating the SEC West is no easy task. And the new playoff has shown that the SEC is no longer foolproof against college football’s best teams.

Just ask Florida State and Ohio State how they feel about playing SEC teams in the playoff and championship games.
