The preseason coaches All-Southeastern Conference football teams were released Tuesday and five Gators players made the cut.
Cornerback Vernon Hargreaves was the only Florida player to make either first team. The junior recorded 50 tackles, picked off three passes and led the SEC with 13 pass breakups last season.
Hargreaves was also chosen as an All-SEC first-team cornerback in each of his first two seasons with the Gators.
Defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard and linebacker Antonio Morrison earned second-team honors. Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and running back Kelvin Taylor were voted to the third-team.
Bullard is expected to have a standout senior season after totaling 52 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season.
Meanwhile, Morrison led the Gators with 101 tackles to earn All-SEC second-team honors last season. But the senior linebacker is still recovering from a knee injury he suffered during Florida’s 28-20 win in the Birmingham Bowl on Jan. 3.
Robinson and Taylor are expected to help ignite Florida’s offense this season. The pair of juniors accounted for 13 touchdowns last season.
No Gators offensive players were named to the preseason All-SEC Teams voted on by the media last month. Florida defensive back Vernon Hargreaves, defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard and linebacker Antonio Morrison were the only players on that list.
