Most freshmen would be satisfied with breaking the Southeastern Conference record for sacks by a freshman.
Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett is not most freshmen.
Garrett did not speak to the media during his freshman season due to team rules, but the sophomore finally gave his insight into 2014 on Friday.
"I don't feel like I had a good enough season for myself. I didn't reach my standards so I'm just ready to get out there and prove that I can be better than what I'm expected to do," Garrett told 247Sports.com's Brian Perroni.
Even more impressive Garrett (11.5 sacks) broke the record, held by former South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (8 sacks), with minimal use of his left hand.
“I had torn ligaments in my thumb against Mississippi State so the rest of the season I was playing with that,” Garrett told the website. “I couldn’t use my left hand during the season, pretty much.”
