Georgia Tech will be getting an official visit this fall from one of the nation's top athletes. Savannah's Demetris Robertson is a 4-star ATH who's rated among the Top 50 recruits for the Class of 2016 by all the major recruiting services.

He told the AJC on DawgNation his plans for all of his official visits and that included Georgia Tech. He's had Stanford as his front-runner for quite some time after he de-committed from Alabama. Robertson maintained on Sunday night that Stanford still was his leader and was followed by co-No.2s Alabama and UGA.

That said, the Stanford interest should indicate that Robertson is thinking academics first with his college plan. He’s also set up a visit for Notre Dame and is onsidering taking another official visit to Northwestern.

That’s also why he will check out Georgia Tech.

"I have a good relationship with Coach (Lamar) Owens and Coach (Buzz) Preston," he said. "I know what they do inside out. (It creates) a lot of one-on-one situations for a receiver."

Owens actually has ties to the Savannah area.  He played football for Benedictine and then went on to play for Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson when he was at Navy.
