Lane Kiffin is sure the “best guy” will win the QB job at Alabama.
But so early in practice, the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator isn’t ready to name a starter.
“All the guys are going to get an opportunity. They’re working extremely hard,” Kiffin said this weekend. “Just like last year, the best guy will win it whenever he wins it. We don’t have a timetable when that’s going be. We’re not going to get into individuals are what this guy is and what this guy is.”
Jake Coker figures to be the starter, but a lot of folks thought that last year after he transferred from Florida State. Blake Sims won the job instead. Observers at Alabama's first practices said Coker and David Cornwell "were 1A and 1B," AL.com reported.
“Once Blake won the starting job, Blake made us better,” Kiffin said. “We changed what we had done for Blake and really went to a different approach.”
“It is a different year, obviously, with our personnel. What we do and we’ve always done, we’ve always found the best way to feature our players and really build our system around our players as opposed to take our system and make our players do that system. I think last year really showed that a lot.”
