Lorenzo Nunez, a freshman quarterback from Harrison High School, is very much in Steve Spurrier’s plans for South Carolina’s upcoming season.
Like many teams around the SEC, the Gamecocks are still deciding on a starting quarterback, and they believe that the former 4-star recruit could have something to offer.
Spurrier, a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at Florida, has used multiple quarterbacks fairly regularly while at South Carolina. A duel-threat quarterback, Nunez would provide a new wrinkle as he rushed for over 1,000 yards as a senior and scored 14 touchdowns on the ground.
If anyone knows about quarterbacks, or at least will tell the world that they know about quarterbacks, it’s the Gamecocks’ head coach, and he likes what he sees in Nunez.
The quarterback race is just getting started in South Carolina, but fans can rest easy knowing that if none of these players earn the job, Spurrier is ready to suit up and lead his team.
Hey, it’s the Head Ball Coach, crazier things have happened.
