As Florida looks to turn around its SEC East fortunes, it might have to do so without the benefit of senior inside linebacker Antonio Morrison.
Morrison suffered a knee injury on Jan. 3 in the Birmingham Bowl and was held out of spring practice as a result. Florida has been mum on the extent of Morrison’s injury but coach Jim McElwain revealed to media on Wednesday that Morrison’s injury required two surgeries.
McElwain also revealed that Morrison would be a non-contact participant in fall camp, leaving his availability for the start of the season in question.
“Just know this, the fact he’ll be out there is short of a miracle based on that knee,” McElwain said at the team’s annual media day.
Morrison was the Gators’ leading tackler in 2014 with 101, which earned Morrison second team All-SEC recognition.
