It’s not every day that a 15-year-old gets an offer from a major Division I program.
But for 2018 4-star offensive lineman Luke Matthews, it’s a family affair.
Matthews, a 6-foot-4, 310-pound sophomore out of Elkins High School in Texas, received his first official offer from Texas A&M on Tuesday.
"A&M gave me an offer today," Matthews told 247Sports Brian Perroni.
If the name sounds familiar, it’s because it probably should. Matthews is the youngest brother of the Matthews clan that includes Kevin, Jake and Mike, the sons of NFL Hall of Fame offensive lineman Bruce Matthews. Although Bruce was a USC grad, all three of his older sons attended Texas A&M, and it wouldn’t be surprising for Luke to follow their path.
Kevin played most recently with the Carolina Panthers in 2014. Jake was a first-round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons and played as the starting left tackle his rookie season. Mike is currently the starting center for the Aggies and was named to the Remington Trophy watch list for the nation’s best center in July.
Although it’s still early, Matthews is ranked as the No. 45 player in the nation for the class of 2018, ranking as the 6th best offensive tackle and the 4th best player in Texas.
