In anticipation of the upcoming football season, Auburn wants its fans to know the Tigers are motivated to repeat their 2013 run to the national title game, when they narrowly lost to Florida State in the final seconds. Though it’s still the preseason, there’s plenty to hype up, so yesterday the Tigers released a video montage of their summer workouts.

At the 1:39 mark, you get a glimpse of what’s to come with the video’s first appearance of defensive end Byron Cowart, the nation’s top recruit for the 2015 class. Cowart, out of Seffner, Fla., is expected to make an immediate impact for the Tigers, whose ’15 recruiting class also includes top prospects Jeffery Holland, Kerryon Johnson, Tim Irivn and Darius Slayton (Greater Atllanta Christian).
Cowart, as you may remember, caused a stir on National Signing Day when he announced his commitment to Auburn but then waited hours before making it official by faxing his National Letter of Intent. He’s also a peculiar fellow, notable for carrying a Chucky doll to press conferences and other events.
He was long thought to be headed to Florida, but that changed when Will Muschamp was fired by the Gators and was hired to run Auburn’s defense. Muschamp and Cowart will look to push the Tigers into one of the four playoff spots, and Auburn enteres the season ranked No. 7 in the coaches poll.
After a promising start last season, the Tigers lost four of their final five games to finish 8-5. Their season begins Sept. 5 against unranked Louisville – a game that will be played at the Georgia Dome.
