UGA wide receiver target Kyle Davis is headed to Auburn for an unofficial visit.
Davis, a 5-star from Archer High School rated by 247sports is believed to be one of UGA’s top priorities at wide receiver. He may even be No. 1 on the board.
The Bulldogs picked up two commits this week at the position in 3-star Randrecous Davis and 4-star Charlie Woerner.
Davis’ visit to Auburn is particularly interesting after his father made comments at The Opening earlier this month stating his son would be a better fit in the Tigers’ offense as opposed to UGA’s.
"With the spread offense that Tennessee, Auburn and South Carolina run, they really compliment him," Kyle's father, Ron Davis, told AL.com two weeks ago. "It's always good to go into something that you know. I just don't see UGA being one that would actually develop him as well as some of the other schools would.
“I know Georgia is giving him a lot of hype about what they’re doing… but Kyle needs to go to a school that best enhances his skill and somewhere that can prepare him for the next level.”
His dad may be disappointed if the recruiting analysts are correct. Currently, 87 percent of recruiting analysts favor UGA over Auburn.
Two of Davis' teammates at Archer, 2016 offensive lineman EJ Price and 2017 cornerback Jamyest Williams, visited Auburn a day earlier, on Wednesday. Price, who de-committed from UGA last month, told the AJC that the Bulldogs and Florida State were his co-leaders earlier this week. After the Auburn visit, Price was asked if the Tigers were now tied for first and he replied, "Auburn is definitely in the top."
