Nation’s No. 1 prospect, DT Rashan Gary of New Jersey (Joshua L. Jones/Special for AJC)
UGA hosted the nation’s No. 1 player this weekend, and the visit couldn’t have gone any better.
Rashan Gary, a 5-star defensive tackle from Paramus Catholic (N.J.), awarded UGA a perfect score.
“A 10,” Gary told the AJC. “Me and my mom had a good time.”
Gary made the long journey to UGA's Dawg Night prospect camp on Saturday. He hung out on the sidelines and observed the camp alongside last year's No. 1 overall player, incoming UGA freshman signee Trent Thompson. Thompson was overheard telling teammates that he was working extra hard to recruit Gary for the Bulldogs.
Will Gary return to UGA again for an official visit this fall? It’s a possibility.
“I don’t know yet,” he said. “I still have to talk to my family.”
UGA OL commit Aaron Dowdell told the AJC on Sunday that Gary told him he had no leaders. The AJC confirmed that with Gary.
So was this weekend’s visit to Athens the best out of all the schools he has seen?
“All even,” he said.
