Mackendy Cheridor’s season was cut short by a knee injury. (Curtis Compton / AJC)

To mix things up, I thought I’d do a look-ahead to Georgia State’s August camp in a different format, A-to-Z:

I’ll continue to post one letter a day on the blog for the next 26 days:

Today is …

C

Cheridor, Mackendy.

Cheridor has the potential to be a difference-maker on a defensive line that badly needs someone to make plays.

He started as a hybrid rush end/outside linebacker last year before also suffering a season-ending knee injury.

He is healthy and will play defensive end with his hand on the ground, which the coaches feel better suits his skills.

He is listed at 6-5, 250 pounds, but I think he was probably closer to 270 in the spring. And that’s not a bad 270. Because of his frame, he seemed to carry the weight well as he recovers from his injury.

Cheridor has just one sack last year, but he only played in four games.

Georgia State A to Z so far

B is for backfield

A is for Arbuckle
