LAKE STEVENS, WASH. – It was barely sunlight when UGA picked up another commitment at quarterback on early Friday morning, but the news traveled quickly to the West coast.
Jacob Eason, the 5-star quarterback who is also committed to UGA, and his family were happy to hear about the Bulldogs adding Bailey Hockman, the rising junior from McEachern High School.
“It speaks volumes for Schotty — he’s turning Georgia into Quarterback U. by getting the top guys there,” Eason’s father, Tony, told the AJC.
“We think competition is great. It will push Jacob, so I think it’s a good thing. Hockman obviously saw the same things out of Georgia that Jake saw.”
Eason is a rising senior and will report to UGA in January after the upcoming season at Lake Stevens High School. Hockman is a year behind as a rising junior, and will be eligible to play for the Bulldogs in 2017.
“I give that kid (Hockman) all the credit in the world,” Eason said. “He’s not afraid to go compete against Jacob and the rest of the quarterbacks at Georgia. That says a lot right there about the kid. Competition is awesome. Bailey and Jacob will be able to push each other. It will be good for Georgia.”
