Columbus-based insurer Aflac, a major provider of cancer policies, said more than 20,000 post offices in Japan will now market its policies, double the previous number.

Japan is Aflac’s largest market. With more than 20 million policies, the company insures one in every four households in the Asian country. Japan accounts for 75 percent Aflac’s overall business.

According to the World Health Organization, Japan ranks No. 8 among 179 countries in cancer incidences, 201 cases per 100,000 people annually, while the U.S. ranks 12th with 300 cases per 100,000.

Aflac, which also provides other insurance products and is popularly known for its Aflac duck commercials in the U.S., said Japan Post will add 10,064 post offices to the current list carrying its cancer produc
