In another step in developing a rivalry, Georgia State and Charlotte have agreed to a four-year series in football starting in 2020.

The two schools were already contracted to open this pending season at the Georgia Dome, and then again in Charlotte in 2017.

The new four-game series will feature two games in Charlotte on Sept. 26, 2020 and Sept. 16, 2023 and two games in Atlanta on Sept. 18, 2021 and Sept. 17, 2022 and reflects the goals of coach Trent Miles and athletic director Charlie Cobb to play more non-conference games against teams based in the South.

The 49ers are in their first year on the FBS level and play in Conference USA.
