Nick Saban expects all Alabama football signees to make it

ATLANTA — When Alabama’s players report for summer school and workouts after Memorial Day, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban expects all of the 2015 signees to enroll on time.

The remaining 16 student-athletes are scheduled to join the Tide’s eight mid-year enrollees and the rest of the team in Tuscaloosa on May 26.

Of the remaining 16 players, eight were ranked inside Rivals100, which lists the top 100 recruits in the country. Five-star running back Damien Harris and five-star wide receiver Calvin Ridley are among the players who could contribute early on.

“We don’t have any issues right now,” Saban said Tuesday during his Crimson Caravan stop in Atlanta. “We feel like everybody’s done what they need to do. Now, guys need to finish the semester at their schools and get the grades that they need to make. Every time you feel pretty good about it, there can be a hiccup in the (NCAA) clearinghouse or somewhere.”

Two members of the Tide’s 2014 class — Bo Scarbrough and Montel McBride — had to delay enrollment. Scarbrough enrolled in January while McBride has yet to join the team.

“We don’t know of any of those issues right now,” Saban said. “And we’re hopeful that everybody will be there when we start out after Memorial Day.”

Along with the rest of the signees, the Tide also added two preferred walk-ons in the past as quarterback Seth Franks and wide receiver Jonathan Rice have decided to continue their playing careers in Tuscaloosa.
