Former Notre Dame QB Everett Golson, who reportedly would like to transfer closer to a school near his hometown of Myrtle Beach, S.C., won’t be allowed to play for any team that’s on the Irish’s 2015 schedule.
Those schools include Georgia Tech and Clemson, FoxSports.com reported Monday.
Notre Dame also plays Texas, Virginia, Massachusetts, Navy, Southern California, Temple, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Boston College and Stanford this fall.
A report last week stated that Golson, who led Notre Dame to an undefeated regular season in 2012, is looking to transfer to either Georgia or South Carolina. ESPN.com reported in January that Golson had six SEC schools on his list of "two dozen schools."
Both Georgia and South Carolina must replace last year’s starting quarterbacks — Hutson Mason and Dylan Thompson — but Golson missed all of 2013 because he was ineligible and might need a waiver to play for a SEC program.

The SEC's graduate transfer rule — 14.1.15.1 — states the student-athlete must meet seven criteria. Golson would not meet the fourth criteria, 14.1.15.1d, which states: "The student-athlete has not been subject to official university or athletics department disciplinary action at any time during enrollment at any previous collegiate institution (excluding limited discipline applied by a sports team)."
Golson did not play during the 2013 season after he was suspended from Notre Dame for "poor academic judgment" and was not enrolled in the school. He returned to Notre Dame before the 2014 season.
Golson threw for 3,455 yards with 29 TDs and 14 INTs last year. He threw for 2,405 yards, 12 TDs and six interceptions in 2012, when the Irish finished the regular season undefeated, before losing to Alabama in the BCS national championship game.
Obviously, turnovers have been a problem for Golson, who also had eight fumbles lost and threw four interceptions that were returned for TDs in 2014.
