The man every Georgia Bulldogs fan loves to hate is coming out with a book next year.
Steve Spurrier is collaborating with longtime sportswriter and author Buddy Martin on an untitled autobiography that is expected to be released in 2016.
Don’t expect it to be sold at the UGA bookstore.
Martin, who I've known for about 20 years in addition to working together about 15 years ago, chatted about it on the "Paul Finebaum Show."
Spurrier and Martin started talking about doing a book “20 years ago,” Martin told me this morning.
Spurrier then approached him again last year.
“I’m really enjoying doing it,” Martin said. “It’s going to be the whole story, the whole package. There will be some football teaching in it. There will be some things he wants to change about college football. People. Family.”
Spurrier’s autobiography obviously will appeal to Florida football fans, since he transformed that program in the 1990s and led the Gators to the 1996 national championship.
Martin and Spurrier have already talked several times and will spend much more time together this summer.
“He’s remained committed to do the best, most honest book he can do,” Martin said.
Martin has written seven books, including Urban Meyer's autobiography ("Urban's Way: Urban Meyer, the Florida Gators, and His Plan to Win") — before he hit the road to Ohio State — and "Looking Deep" with Terry Bradshaw in the early 1990s.
