It appears Florida State and Alabama will still meet in the near future, but a potential game with Auburn is off the table, Warchant.com reported.
FSU and Auburn were discussing a neutral-site game — probably in Jacksonville — in 2018 or 2019, but sources told the website that likely won’t happen.
The Seminoles would have given up a home date to play the game in Jacksonville, The Palm Beach Post reported, but the payout of possibly as much as $4 million would have made up for that.
Florida State already is playing Ole Miss in the first game in 2016 and is trying to schedule Alabama for a game in Atlanta in 2017.
Alabama and Miami were in talks to open 2017, but the Hurricanes instead will play LSU in Arlington, Texas, in 2018.
Both SEC and ACC teams are adding stronger Power 5 conference teams to their schedules in the wake of a new rule that requires them to play at least one nonconference Power 5 team a season. Independents Notre Dame, BYU and Army also are approved.
That rule goes into affect for the SEC in 2016 and the ACC in 2017.

In addition to Ole Miss, FSU has Notre Dame on the schedule for 2018 and 2021. The Seminoles also already play Florida every year.
Alabama has Wisconsin (2015) and Southern California (2016) on future schedules.
