Jacob Eason, the nation's No. 1 quarterback prospect who is committed to UGA, "reaffirmed everything" during his visit with the Bulldogs this week.
Eason, who is from the state of Washington, committed to UGA at last summer’s Dawg Night prospect camp but hadn’t returned to the campus until Monday. Eason wanted to use part of his spring break to come back and spend some quality time with UGA’s new offensive coaches.

“Jacob has never wavered on UGA,” Eason’s father, Tony Eason, told the AJC on Thursday. “There’s no drama with him. He’s solid to UGA. He has been solid to UGA. This week just reaffirmed everything. It was like the ‘discount double-check.’ There are a couple of new coaches, and he wanted to go down and sit with them. He got that accomplished, and he liked what he saw.”
Eason also liked what he saw when he toured UGA’s campus.
“He made the comment that he was walking on the campus, and they were playing country music in a common area for the students,” his father said. “He just loved that. He felt at home.”
When Eason initially committed to UGA last July, Mike Bobo was the team's offensive coordinator. Now that job has been taken over by Brian Schottenheimer, who has slowly but surely built a relationship with Eason.
“Jacob likes his approach, his demeanor and the way he teaches,” Eason’s father said. “He’s kind of a laid-back personality, and that’s the same way that Jacob is. There’s not a lull in the conversation when those two get together, I don’t think.
“Jacob got to know him, and he really liked his personality. He really felt good about the way he coaches, and his style. They really clicked and hit it off. He also liked the new strength coach. There was a lot of energy from him.
“Then he got to meet other guys interested in Georgia. He’s developing relationships with those guys. That’s what is cool about Jacob committing early – being able to do that with other recruits.”
Before leaving UGA, Eason spent around an hour with Richt.
“He loves Coach Richt, and he trusts him,” his father said. “I think that’s the biggest thing right there. He put his trust into Coach Richt. He believes in what he’s doing, and he believes in what he can do for Jacob – as far as developing him not only as a quarterback, but as a person and as a human being.”
Eason is UGA’s highest-rated QB recruit since Matthew Stafford. Eason is rated as the nation’s No. 4 overall prospect, per the 247sports composite rankings.
