UGA was trying to bump out Florida for the final official visit that Gainesville High School's Chris Williamson will take before signing day.

But the Gators held off the Bulldogs after Florida coach Jim McElwain and a few of his assistants made an in-home visit with Williamson on Tuesday night. The 6-foot cornerback tweeted this out around 11 p.m.:

So what’s next for Williamson? Theoretically, he could still take a midweek visit to UGA within the next 72 hours. Gainesville is only 50 miles away from the Bulldogs’ campus.

However, Williamson’s decision to go with the Gators over the Bulldogs on a prime weekend opportunity may cause UGA to go in another direction.

Williamson has taken official visits to Michigan and UNC the last two weeks, along with Cal last month.

UPDATE: Williamson no longer lists UGA as one of his finalists.
