Alabama’s trio of WR Amari Cooper, RB T.J. Yeldon and S Landon Collins are heading to the NFL draft.
And no one can blame them.
All three made their announcements at a news conference Friday.
Collins tipped his hand earlier by posting a statement on Instagram. Here's part of it:
Now that the time as come for me to take the next step in my journey I will dearly miss all my teammates who I sweat, cried and laughed with. I have no doubt it is true when they say the best time of your life is when you are playing college football and I wouldn't have picked a different group of guys to spend that time with.
Cooper had the best season of the trio, leading the nation with 124 catches and finishing second with 1,727 yards and 16 TDs.
Yeldon split time with Derrick Henry, but still led the Crimson Tid with 932 yards
"At least one NFL scout has said he thinks Yeldon could be better than former teammate Eddie Lacy, who now stars for the Green Bay Packers," NFL.com wrote today.
About Collins, NFL.com wrote in the same article: "In October, an NFL scout told NFL Media's Albert Breer that Collins was a better prospect than former Alabama safeties Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Mark Barron, who both went in the first round (Clinton-Dix in 2014 and Barron in '12)."
They join Georgia's Todd Gurley and Florida State QB Jameis Winston as high profile underclassmen who are turning pro.
