Van Jefferson (247sports)

Van Jefferson has decided to delay his college enrollment, according to multiple reports.

Jefferson is the 4-star wide receiver from Brentwood, Tenn., and has been committed to UGA since last summer.

He had planned to enroll early at UGA, but changed those plans for two reasons – to wait and meet the new offensive coordinator for the Bulldogs (who has yet to be named) and to finish some math classes, per 247sports.com's Barton Simmons.

UGA had eight other recruits who started classes on Monday and you can read about that HERE.

Jefferson is the son of former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Shawn Jefferson. The elder Jefferson coached on the same NFL staff on the 2013 Tennessee Titans with Tracy Rocker, who is now UGA's defensive line coach. The Jefferson's family connection with Rocker led directly to Van's decision to commit to UGA.

Should UGA be worried about this situation? It depends on how much of a priority that Jefferson feels like he is from UGA after the Bulldogs do name a replacement for Mike Bobo.

UGA’s top contender for Jefferson is Ole Miss, where he took an official visit for eight hours last month. Simmons reported that Jefferson could return to Ole Miss on an unofficial visit this month, and that he’s also considering official visits to Florida, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M.

Jefferson did a good job in explaining his mindset a few days ago in an AJC story that you can READ HERE. At the time, Jefferson said it was "50/50" on whether he ended up at UGA or Ole Miss.

Note: There is also the remote possibility that Jefferson could enroll at UGA this week before the drop/add period is completed.
