4-star DE Arden Key (RisingSeniors.com)

Arden Key, who is one of UGA's top remaining targets for this year, has de-committed from South Carolina for a second time.

The 4-star defensive end from Hapeville Charter high school tweeted out his change on plans on Tuesday night. He’s rated as the state’s No. 10 overall prospect.

“I just got off the phone with Arden, and he told me that he wanted to meet in the morning,” Hapeville Charter coach Winston Gordon told the AJC on late Tuesday night.

“I didn’t talk to Arden too long, but during that time I bet I had 15 colleges coaches call me.”

Among the suitors on the other line inquiring immediately about Key were LSU and Ole Miss, along with South Carolina.

“He was like ‘What’s going on?’” Gordon said. “They (South Carolina) caught me off guard, just like Arden did with his tweet. I just told them that I was going to talk with Key in the morning about everything.”

Key originally committed to South Carolina in June 2013, but backed off the pledge a few months later because he felt like he rushed his decision. Key committed to South Carolina yet again last June.

Even before Key de-committed, he had official visits scheduled this month for LSU, Miami, South Carolina and UGA. He will be touring with the Bulldogs on Jan. 30, the last weekend before signing day.

“He’s just a kid, and maybe he’s just feeling an overwhelming amount of pressure,” Gordon said. “And because of that, maybe he just wants to open everything back up so he get a better look at everything? If that’s what he tells me tomorrow, then I can understand this a little better.”
