Taylor took an official visit to Alabama last month, and he was also hearing from LSU, Mississippi State and West Virginia, among others. He was rated as the nation’s No. 2 defensive lineman out of junior college.

The 6-foot-4, 335-pounder played this past season at Copiah-Lincoln junior college, registering 40 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 11 tackles for losses. He will have two years of eligibility at Alabama.

Taylor was dismissed from UGA last summer after the arrest. It was a police response to a third-party complaint that Taylor had physically assaulted his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at McWhorter Hall dormitory. Police said evidence and witness accounts indicate the 6-foot-4, 340-pound Taylor “choked” and “struck with a closed fist” his 5-11, 170-pound female victim.

Taylor played at Jenkins County High School, and signed with UGA in 2012.
