Apple: want thinner iPads and 5k iMac screens? WE GOT THAT

It wasn't quite the mega-announcement of last month's Apple iPhone 6 and Apple Watch unveiling — how could it be? — but on Thursday, the world's largest tech company continued to spruce up its inventory with refreshes of its iPads, iMacs and Mac Mini line of products.

New iPad Air 2 — thinner at 6.1 mm than the previous iPad Air, still starts at $499 for a 16-GB model. Apple also introduced an updated iPad Mini, starting at $399. Advance orders start Friday and the iPads begin shipping next week.
A long-awaited refresh of the iMac, at least the top-end 27-inch model, which now has a Retina display, or what Apple is calling "5K Retina" at a resolution of 5,210 x 2,880. It starts at $2,499 and is shipping immediately. Apple will continue to sell 27-inch and 21-inch models that are not Retina-enabled.
Apple updated the specs on its Mac Mini computers and dropped the price on its cheapest version from $599 to $499.
Apple Pay, Apple's foray into mobile payments, launches on Monday.
Apple is launching a developer tool for its health initiative, HealthKit, in November.
As expected, Apple's OS X update for Mac is coming along and the company continued to tout the Watch concept, which debuts early next year.
