Metro Atlanta roadways remain congested during the evening commute, and now storms have moved into the north metro Atlanta counties, which is only adding to travel woes, Channel 2 Action News reported.

There have been reports of dime-sized hail in Alpharetta, and storms are peppering north Fulton, Cherokee and Hall counties as well as far North Georgia.

The Downtown Connector and Northern Perimeter are also seeing backups, the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported.

In Cobb County, there’s familiar slowdowns on the I-285 Outer Loop at Paces Ferry Road due to roadwork in the right lane.

Commuters on the north and west sides of Atlanta saw more cars and buses on the roads Wednesday as more students returned to school. It was the first day of classes for multiple districts, including Bartow, Douglas and Carroll counties, as well as the cities of Cartersville, Gainesville and Calhoun.

More rain is on tap for Thursday and the next few days after that. That means the air is going to get more and more humid as the chance of rain holds at 60 percent through the weekend, according to Channel 2.

It’s currently 90 degrees, which was the predicted high.
