In a nice change from rain and scorching heat, metro Atlanta gets mild temperatures and light breezes Monday.

“The humidity is low and dropping,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

“And your five-day forecast shows we’re going to be dry through most of the week,” he added.

There is just a 20 percent risk of isolated showers or storms Tuesday and Wednesday.

Atlanta temperatures are even expected to drop into the 60s Tuesday morning, breaking a more than 60-day streak of lows at least 70 degrees or warmer.

Tuesday’s expected high is 89 degrees, and highs won’t increase to the 90s until Thursday.

“So despite a lot of sunshine today, we’ll stay below the 90-degree mark,” Nitz said. “And I don’t expect any rain this afternoon or this evening.”

Temperatures were 81 degrees in Atlanta, 68 in Blairsville and 75 in Griffin just before 10 p.m.
